Share Tweet Many RV owners hate the constant battle to power their desired electrical appliances on 30 amp service. Is it possible to convert your RV from 30 amp service to 50 amp service? Surprisingly, you can convert a 30 amp RV for use with a 50 amp pedestal. YouTube This video answered a lot of commonly asked questions about RV shore power. I had no idea it could take up to 8 hours to rewire an RV for 50 amp service.

Jul 16, · I bought a used pop up last year. I heard from someone that pop ups are “20 amp” but can be hooked up to a campsite with “30 amp” service with the use of some sort of adapter.
Branch-circuit conductors shall have an ampacity not less than the maximum load to be served. Where a branch circuit supplies continuous loads or any combination of continuous and noncontinuous loads, the minimum branch-circuit conductor size, before the application of any adjustment or correction factors, shall have an allowable ampacity not less than the noncontinuous load plus percent of the continuous load.
Where the assembly, including the overcurrent devices protecting the branch circuit s , is listed for operation at percent of its rating, the allowable ampacity of the branch circuit conductors shall be permitted to be not less than the sum of the continuous load plus the noncontinuous load. Grounded conductors that are not connected to an overcurrent device shall be permitted to be sized at percent of the continuous and noncontinuous load.
See Part II of Article for minimum rating of motor branch-circuit conductors. Conductors for branch circuits as defined in Article , sized to prevent a voltage drop exceeding 3 percent at the farthest outlet of power, heating, and lighting loads, or combinations of such loads, and where the maximum total voltage drop on both feeders and branch circuits to the farthest outlet does not exceed 5 percent, provide reasonable efficiency of operation. Conductors of branch circuits supplying more than one receptacle for cord-andplug- connected portable loads shall have an ampacity of not less than the rating of the branch circuit.
Branchcircuit conductors supplying household ranges, wallmounted ovens, counter-mounted cooking units, and other household cooking appliances shall have an ampacity not less than the rating of the branch circuit and not less than the maximum load to be served. These tap conductors include any conductors that are a part of the leads supplied with the appliance that are smaller than the branch-circuit conductors. The taps shall not be longer than necessary for servicing the appliance.
Branch-circuit conductors that supply loads other than those specified in In addition, they shall have an ampacity of not less than 15 for circuits rated less than 40 amperes and not less than 20 for circuits rated at 40 or 50 amperes and only where these tap conductors supply any of the following loads: Fixture wires and flexible cords shall be permitted to be smaller than 14 AWG as permitted by

The first part, the 30 amp side of the socket, goes to the normal, everyday things we all use. It includes one of two air conditioners. The other side of the socket goes to the second air conditioner. Now let’s get the concept and not get hung up on “code”. A “code” 50 amp outlet is one that will provide for you 50 amps of volt AC. That outlet can also provide two separate 50 amp volt feeds.

There’s a catch though. Some toothpaste ‘alternatives’, touted on the Internet as effective stain removers, might not be quite as great as their sometimes famous fans would have us to believe. Charcoal toothpaste, oil-pulling and fruit peel rubs are all doing the rounds right now as simpler ways to a whiter, brighter, bacteria free smile, but are they actually effective?
Speaking to Woman’s Day , Sydney-based cosmetic dentist Dr Luke Cronin revealed what works, what doesn’t and what you might well want to avoid. There’s a range of toothpaste alternatives that claim everything from whiter teeth to a bacteria free-mouth, but does this mean you can ditch your dentist? It’s believed charcoal can absorb tannins — these are the compounds found in coffee, tea and wine that stain your teeth.
And it’s also claimed the gritty black stuff has the power to eliminate toxic bacteria which cause bad breath. Activated charcoal toothpaste promises white teeth, but it might not be everyone’s cup of tea While many claim the product has miracle whitening properties, Dr Cronin warns against embracing the trend because there’s limited evidence to support if it’s any good for you, or your teeth. Swishing oil around your mouth can improve oral health The basic idea behind oil-pulling is to take a couple of tablespoons of vegetable oil and use it as a kind of mouthwash.
It’s an Ayurvedic procedure rooted in the belief that antimicrobial properties found in oil binds to toxins in the mouth and draws out bacteria. Gargling for 20 minutes is expected, after which you can spit out the oil, and any mouth nasties you may have lurking. The Ayurvedic procedure involves gargling with oil for 20 minutes a day to remove toxins from the mouth While Dr Cronin doesn’t outright slam oil-pulling, he’s not sold either:

By Don Casey Revised by BoatUS editors in April However you bring shorepower aboard your boat, if you do it without the appropriate safeguards, you place yourself, your crew, and your guests at a terrible — and foolish — risk. Three-Conductor System AC circuits use three wires, and it is essential to your safety to understand the function of each. Because the direction of current flow in an AC circuit is reversing times per second 60 positive-to-negative-and-back-to-positive cycles , it is counter-intuitive to refer to one side of an AC circuit as positive and the other as negative.
Instead, we call one side hot, the other side neutral. By code the hot wire in an AC circuit is black, red, or blue; the neutral wire is always white. Since the neutral side is connected to ground, it is the hot side of the circuit that is the most dangerous. However, you should always treat both sides with equal respect because a wire reversal to the outlet will make the neutral side hot.
Discussion RV electrical systems bring power inside the unit from an outside source. This includes power being supplied by an onboard or portable generator. Larger units with two roof air conditioners and an abundance of appliances require more power and can be equipped with a 50 amp distribution center. The power cord is typically hard wired to the vehicle and stored in the service center, however some models feature a quick connect that simply plugs into the campground source and twists to a locking ring on the side of the coach.
With a 50 Amp service, you have enough power to run both of the roof air conditioners — front and back and other appliances in the RV.

But if you insist on using an amp meter, here’s the information. The most important feature of the amp meter is that it is a low resistance high current device. It must be installed in series with an electrical load to limit current flow. If you were to wire the amp meter directly across the battery as you would with a volt meter the amp meter would immediately pass so much current as to fry the meter, almost instantly. Some amp meters may actually be fused for internal protection.
When properly wired in series with an electrical load the amp meter will monitor the current flowing in the circuit. This particular ammeter appears to be manufacture, so not exactly the correct period for MGA. However, since the ammeter was never standard equipment on the MGA, an aftermarket accessory could be almost any design hopfully not ugly. If you have amp alternator you would need a amp meter. The direct reading vintage analog type dash mounted amp meter requires hookup wires sufficiently large to carry the full current in the circuit being monitored.
A 30 amp meter would need a pair of 10 gauge wires. A 60 amp meter would need 8 gauge wires.

Testimonials This is an introductory guide to RV volt troubleshooting. First and foremost safety precautions should always be exercised when working with electricity, particularly VAC because it can not only cause serious injury but it can also kill so volt troubleshotting should not be attempted by the inexperienced. For those who are not experienced with electricity its as simple as getting help.
Most likely you have a friend or acquaintance who would be glad to show you the “do’s” and “don’ts” of AC troubleshotting or you could take a course at a local community college or vocational school. Do not attempt this till you do one or the other. Anyone with the desire can learn these things so you are not doomed to taking your RV to a service center every time a problem rears its head. A RMS meter really isn’t necessary unless you need accurate readings from a non-sine wave AC power source such as an inverter.
OK, let’s get started! Check for “good” voltage at the source, where ever you’re plugged into. The round hole at top is ground, with hot and neutral on the bottom where you would place your VOM probes. This is a 50 amp plug. Again ground is on top, the left and right slots are Volt hot legs 50 amp is actually volts and common is the lower leg.

Wisconsin, USA Offline I think the main gist of this thread is that there is a ton of flexibility when it comes to providing multiple monitor mixes using the StudioLive and an outboard headset mixer. I’d thought of using the control room output to feed the master mix into my headset amp, but if the sound engineer wants to solo a channel that would be a problem, that’s why I use the main outputs and feed them through the headset amp it has pass-through capability to my powered speakers.
This is a stage situation of course, not a studio recording scenario. Using the mains as a source for the in-ear mixes just saves time. However, if a band member insists on their own mix, that can be done also.

Posted on Sunday December 14, Douglas Keister provides us an informative and entertaining History of RVing in this one-hour documentary. On five days in , all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone. The National Park Service will waive all entrance fees on five days in If it happens again and the RV power pedestal has a amp outlet you can use it instead of the amp outlet.
All you need is the right adapter. There are different types of adapters but the most common power adapter is often called a dog bone because of how it looks. Below is an explanation of why this works. An RV power pedestal 30 amp outlet has a single leg and breaker rated at 30 amps at volts along with a neutral leg and ground.

The real first question you need to answer is whether your pop up is wired for 20 amps. Go find the electrical cord that is attached to your trailer’s breaker panel where it exits the body of the trailer. Take a close look at the male end of that cord. If it looks like a conventional household plug 2 vertical prongs and a ground spike , then your trailer is equipped for a 15 amp service. If it has one vertical prong, a horizontal prong and a ground spike, then it’s a 20 amp fitting.
If it has 2 prongs set a 45 degree angle with a ground spike underneath, then it’s a 30 amp fitting.
